In November 2022, the SAIA (Friend's society of Aix Island) launched a consultation process in order to commission a landscape architect to carry out an analysis and prospecting study of part of the parcels it owns. The aim of this study is to carry out a detailed analysis of the area concerned, integrating various input data, whether in terms of built heritage, existing vegetation or uses. All these elements of the landscape will be observed, qualified and compared with each other in order to define new developments in the long term, or to guide current management principles. The primary aim of this mission is to contribute to the preservation of the island's landscapes, whether natural or more anthropized. The diversity of stakeholders and issues is such that the proposals that the proposals arising from this study will aim to offer the fairest possible solutions adapted to each specific situation.
Several parcels of land are involved, covering a total area of 3.5 hectares :

- the northern fortifications and moats
Directly accessible from the village, they are one of the pieces of a geometric puzzle
whose initial defensive function, as designed by Vauban, is still clearly visible today.
These plots, observed on a case-by-case basis, are part of the same landscape system,
